Had my 2nd OB appointment today. I actually got in early. Couldn’t believe it. Didn’t involve much. Just peed in a cup, weighed, nurse took my blood pressure. Then Dr came in, felt my uterus, measured. Put a little jelly on the doppler, moved it around for a minute or two. Then there it was! Once she found it, it was really obvious what it was. So strong and fast! =) She counted it at 174 BPM, which is in the normal range for 10 weeks. It’ll be slower next time. Continue reading
Week 10
Short update today since there’s nothing new to report really. I feel pretty accomplished reaching a double digit week. =P Hopefully I’ll have more to report on Tuesday (August 3), when I have my next OB appointment. I’m reeaaallllllyy hopeful that we’ll get to hear the heartbeat, but it’s possible we won’t, so I’m trying to prep myself to not be TOO disappointed if we can’t. It’s not really working. =) Continue reading
Week 9
I was thinking of things to add during the week last week, but I can’t really think of much this time. I’m mostly feeling the same. Still not sick. But some smells put me off. We used to looooove to get Chinese food. Now I can’t stand the thought of kung pao chicken. (I don’t even want to type it!) Pete still enjoys it, so he gets it sometimes, but I haven’t eaten it in a while. I’ve been talking to a few pregnant people and some recently-pregnant people, and they would talk about how they were always hungry. I really hadn’t experienced that. Until last week. Only problem: I’m hungry, but NOTHING sounds good. Absolutely nothing. So frustrating. I know I’m rambling, but click past the break. I’m just warming up. Continue reading
Week 8
Not much of an update this time, but I have a goal to post at least weekly updates.
After last weekend, I thought I’d never survive the work week. But, somehow, I miraculously had enough energy to make it through the day. At least until I came home. =P
Adding to the fatigue, there’s another symptom, but I usually forget about it by morning. Dreams! Continue reading
Week 7
And here begins the seventh week of pregnancy. Still no sickness, so I really shouldn’t complain. But HOLY SMOKES I am soooo pooped. No one ever talks about how incredibly tired you are in the first trimester. I can barely even function. I wonder how I survive the work day. It would be so nice to be tired, go to bed for the night or take a nap, and then actually wake up RESTED. I just wake up and think, wow, I’m still dead tired. Continue reading
Not so much a secret anymore….
Many more people are now “in” on our news. I thought maybe telling people would make it feel more real, but it hasn’t to the extent I thought it would.
On Saturday night, we told my brother. I’d been wanting to anyway, but I kind of had to since he’s too keen for his own good. =P Over the holiday weekend, we visited Tulsa, so we got to tell Pete’s folks and our friends Jon and Itsuka. (For those who don’t know, Jon and Pete have been best friends since they were kids. Pete views Jon as a brother.) I had intended to post an update for when I hit six weeks pregnant (that was Sunday), but that didn’t happen. Continue reading
OMG Scott, I’m going to punch your face
Last night I had a headache and I was already tired, so I went to bed pretty early. I woke up again though around 2:30 am, tried to go back to sleep, but gave up and decided to drink some ginger tea and eat some crackers to ease my empty and slightly queasy stomach. Scott’s online, I figure I can talk to him. Right? RIGHT? Since when were you more intuitive than a woman, Scott? Click past the break for the entire awkward conversation. =P Continue reading
Gah! Plan Failed!
Okay, so the conversation was supposed to go something like this:
Me: Here, Mom, two bottles of wine I’m not going to drink. You can have them.
Mom: Oh thanks! But why don’t you drink them?
Me: Hm, I would, but I think it wouldn’t be good for the baby.
Mom: !!!
Instead it went something like this: Continue reading
First (Real) OB Appointment
Had my first appointment with the doctor today. I was called back only about 15-20 minutes late (could be a lot worse at an OB’s office). All my blood work came back normal, yay. =) Found out my blood type for sure: A+ We could speculate before, but I never knew for sure. Doctor reinforced that fatigue, sore breasts, mild cramps, and nausea are all normal. Check, check, check…but no nausea. Doctor reiterated that the nausea may still come within a couple of weeks. I think she really wanted me to understand that. =P Continue reading
First OB Appointment! (Kinda)
Today, I had my first appointment at the ob-gyn’s office. I won’t actually see the doctor until Tuesday, hence the “kinda” in the title. It still feels really surreal.
I was called back about 10-15 minutes late. I was a little nervous because I didn’t block off my whole work day, but I did give myself a buffer if things took longer than the hour I was told to expect. I was actually done in less than an hour, so everything worked out fine. Continue reading
