12 weeks seems like a big milestone. Getting so close to the second trimester! Some people would say I’m already there. In any case, I’m just so close, and it makes me so happy! My day started with a dentist appointment. My dad actually picked me up because my car was finally in for repairs since the accident. I was worried I’d have to refuse the x-rays, but as soon as they knew I was pregnant, they said they’d skip them. I got a great report in spite of admitting I’d been slightly lax lately, comparatively speaking, since all too often, I just brush my teeth and collapse in bed. Afterward we picked up lunch and went back to my parents’ house, where S was also. Continue reading

8 Weeks + First (Real) OB Appointment
8 weeks. 8 weeks! I have waited for this day for what feels like forever, but in reality has just been maybe a month. Every single time I hit a new week of being pregnant, it’s exciting (also, new fruit day = baby size of a raspberry). But today I also had my first OB appointment. Last time, I didn’t get to have my first OB appointment. They do things a little bit differently at this hospital, but the basics are the same. Continue reading
An OB appointment, Week 38, a trip to L&D
THIS HAS BEEN A DRAFT SINCE FEBRUARY 16! I never got around to finishing it, obviously. Not sure I’ll really bother since there are far more exciting things now. =) So I’ll post what I got and maybe tie up a few loose ends at the end:
Oh my an eventful day. I’ll back up a week though, then get us up to speed.
Last Tuesday, I had another OB appointment. It was a pretty quick one. I went in, peed in a cup, took a seat. Got in pretty quickly. Continue reading
36 Weeks + 4 days / OB Appointment / Lots of pics
Ohhh, there are lots of things to say because I procrastinated again. So I’ll start with the doctor visit because it may be the most interesting. My appointment was supposed to be yesterday, but things changed with The Great Blizzard of 2011. That makes it sound way more dramatic than maybe it is, but the streets are still a mess. Counting tomorrow, local schools are out four days this week (they only went Monday), and I don’t remember that ever happening.
So anyway, ice and sleet early Tuesday morning + 8-9 inches of snow on top of that = Dr. offices still closed on Wednesday. Continue reading
Oh my goodness, so many things….
I procrastinated. Badly. I kept putting off an update because I had so much to say…the task just seemed too daunting. Turns out, by waiting, I don’t have any fewer things to write about. I’ll try to hit the highlights. Waiting too long to post, I also sort of forgot the smaller things I’d like to remember. =( Oh well. So here’s a summary of what’s been going on here.
- Week 33 – Baby Shower
- Expectant Family Classes
- Week 34 – Dr. Appointment
Oh, I had a Dr appointment on Wednesday
That was 3 (almost 4!) days ago. I’ve been too lazy to update. It was a pretty quick one. Went in, peed, went back out to wait. Got called back, weighed. Gained 19 lbs overall, 1 lb since my previous appointment 2 weeks ago. Gail said, “Only one pound! That includes the holidays and everything!” Yeah? I’m thinking, that’s okay, right? God knows I ate plenty through the holidays and even when it’s not a holiday. I had started wondering if I’m snacking too much. Guess I’m still alright. I just kind of shrugged. They didn’t seem worried. It was just the first time they really commented on it. Continue reading
OB Appointment
Had a regular OB appointment on Wednesday. Pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. I am happy to report that I was a little more “with it” this time compared to last time. Not that that’s saying much.
First things first: peed in cup. Sometimes I wonder if I’m going to be lectured because my pee is too yellow, like they’ll think I’m not getting enough water. I think I’m doing pretty okay on that most days, but I often pee in the cup shortly after taking my prenatal vitamin, and that always throws off the color.
Anyway. Had a bit of a wait again before getting called back. Like 25-30 minutes. Which I still feel isn’t all that bad for a Dr’s office at the end of the day. Continue reading
OB Appointment – I have teh dumb.
And it’s contagious.
Today I had another OB appointment. The first one since we started going every two weeks. I had my glucose test, which I knew was coming. On the way there, I asked Pete…wasn’t I told to to tell someone that I was going to be having it done and I would need the drink? But who was I supposed to tell? Neither of us really remembered, and I decided I was supposed to tell the nurse.
Ehhhh (imagine buzzer sound here), WRONG! I was supposed to tell the receptionist so I could go ahead and get started on the drink and not have to be there as long. Continue reading
OB Appointment (oh, and weeks 25 & 26)
I’m incredibly bad at updating lately. I don’t know if it’s that nothing is really happening, or I forget to jot down every little thing that happens so I actually remember to write about it later. Probably a combination of the two.
First, the OB appointment. When I got there, I didn’t have to pee yet (for once), so, since I was early, I thought I’d wait five to ten and then go try to pee in the cup. Sure enough, the nurse (a different one, the one who I met at my verrrryyy first visit before my blood was drawn) called me back while I was in the potty. I wasn’t intercepted on my way back to the waiting room, so I just waited to get called back again. Continue reading
OB Appointment (22w2d)
I just updated yesterday, but I had another OB appointment today. A quick and easy one, as expected. Went in, peed in the cup, waited to get called back. I actually waited 15 minutes or so to go back for this appointment, but I’m not complaining. It’s the latest I’ve ever been called back. And it is a doctor’s office. An OB office at that.
First, as usual, Gail weighed me. I’ve gained about 10 lbs so far, and I officially weigh more than I have ever weighed before. =) Then she took my blood pressure, asked a few questions (no, no bleeding; yes, I’m feeling movement), and told me the doctor would be in shortly. What came next was kind of funny. Continue reading
