Week 18ish / OB Appt / Ultrasound!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday (Tuesday), I had my ultrasound at 1:30, followed by a 2:00 Dr. appointment.  The ultrasound was pretty much the most fun thing EVER!  I had been kinda apprehensive about it.  Not so much because of the things I discussed in the last couple of posts, but because I had to drink 16 oz of water an hour prior to my appointment.  Without peeing.  See, I was really looking forward to the ultrasound.  And I wanted to be able to really focus on what was taking place and save it as a wonderful memory.  I feared I’d be so delirious needing to pee that I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy it.

So on Monday night, I decided to do a test run.  Continue reading

OB Appointment / Week 14

I didn’t have a lot to say about entering my 14th week of pregnancy, so I decided to wait until after my Dr appointment (today) to post an update.  First, the appointment.  Went in and, as always, peed in a cup.  Oh boy.  Was called back shortly after.  Nurse weighed me.  I gained 4 lbs since the last appointment (3 lbs since the first; I somehow supposedly lost a pound between the first and second appointments).  Doctor came in and had me lay down on the table.  “Getting a little tummy on you,” she said. =)  I guess that’s supposed to happen.  Then she measured my uterus, during which she commented, “It’s growing!”  Good thing!  Then we heard the heartbeat.  Continue reading

OB Appointment #2! We Heard the Heartbeat!

Had my 2nd OB appointment today.  I actually got in early.  Couldn’t believe it.  Didn’t involve much.  Just peed in a cup, weighed, nurse took my blood pressure.  Then Dr came in, felt my uterus, measured.  Put a little jelly on the doppler, moved it around for a minute or two.  Then there it was!   Once she found it, it was really obvious what it was.  So strong and fast!  =)  She counted it at 174 BPM, which is in the normal range for 10 weeks.  It’ll be slower next time.  Continue reading

First (Real) OB Appointment

Had my first appointment with the doctor today.  I was called back only about 15-20 minutes late (could be a lot worse at an OB’s office).  All my blood work came back normal, yay. =)  Found out my blood type for sure: A+  We could speculate before, but I never knew for sure.  Doctor reinforced that fatigue, sore breasts, mild cramps, and nausea are all normal.  Check, check, check…but no nausea.  Doctor reiterated that the nausea may still come within a couple of weeks.  I think she really wanted me to understand that. =P  Continue reading

First OB Appointment! (Kinda)

Today, I had my first appointment at the ob-gyn’s office.  I won’t actually see the doctor until Tuesday, hence the “kinda” in the title.  It still feels really surreal.

I was called back about 10-15 minutes late.  I was a little nervous because I didn’t block off my whole work day, but I did give myself a buffer if things took longer than the hour I was told to expect.  I was actually done in less than an hour, so everything worked out fine.  Continue reading
