Week 28 – Well hello, 3rd trimester.

OMG, third trimester already?  Really?  I can’t even believe it.

Last night, we went to see my dad’s band play at a free holiday ball thing.  For the first time since I’ve been visibly pregnant, I wore a dress.  It wasn’t even a maternity dress.  Just a normal dress with an empire waist, and it normally gathers in the front a bit, so I thought maybe I could get away with it as long as the front wasn’t a lot shorter than the back. =)  It fit fine, so I wore it!  I did observe, however, that dresses make a pregnant girl (at least this pregnant girl!) look a fair bit larger than she might look otherwise!  I wasn’t self-conscious or anything.  More amused than anything else. =) Continue reading

OB Appointment (oh, and weeks 25 & 26)

I’m incredibly bad at updating lately.  I don’t know if it’s that nothing is really happening, or I forget to jot down every little thing that happens so I actually remember to write about it later.  Probably a combination of the two.

First, the OB appointment.  When I got there, I didn’t have to pee yet (for once), so, since I was early, I thought I’d wait five to ten and then go try to pee in the cup.  Sure enough, the nurse (a different one, the one who I met at my verrrryyy first visit before my blood was drawn) called me back while I was in the potty.  I wasn’t intercepted on my way back to the waiting room, so I just waited to get called back again. Week 24 (and 23…and a CRAZY dream)

Ohh, I have been so lazy.  No pictures, no updates.  I will start with a CRAZY dream I had last week.  A creepy baby dream.

I dreamed I had to go to the hospital, I think for a fever.  When I was there, it wasn’t hospital-like at all, more like science lab with pretty much no privacy.  But it was just me, a few nurses, and another patient in a bed a few yards away in a biiiig room.  My nurse was doing all kinds of random tests, which was weird, but I didn’t worry too much about it.  Next she started getting ready to do an ultrasound.  Continue reading

Week 22

Boring update this week.

Here’s something I’ve found humorous throughout my pregnancy (at least since it’s been public knowledge), but I just now thought to write something about it.  It’s the belly glance.  When I see someone I haven’t seen since I got pregnant OR I haven’t seen in a while OR I just told someone that I’m pregnant…I get the belly glance.  They’ll look me in the eye for a second or two or a few.  Then…the quick glance at my belly to assess the progress.  Continue reading

Week 21

I’ll start with the most fun update this week.  Yesterday, Pete felt our little girl kick against his hand on my belly for the first time!  I have felt her against my hand several times now, but we could never get the time/place right for Pete to feel her.  But he finally did!  The look on his face was so cute. =)   Priceless.  Then he kissed my tummy.  It almost brought a tear to my eye.  He already loves our little girl. ♥  Continue reading

Week 20 (Holy crap, I’m halfway there!)

Reached the official halfway point.  (OMG!)  So hard to believe.  Still so much getting ready to do….

Not much to report this time.  Starting to show enough that it’s obvious to people who know I’m pregnant.  I’m sure even strangers would suspect it now, but only that one guy I mentioned in the last post has had the nerve to actually say anything. =)

I finally broke down and bought some maternity pants.  Some that fit!  Well, they’re a little long, but that can be dealt with.  The short ones (they call them “ankle” now…how nice) were too short, and that is harder to work with.

I just updated yesterday, but….

Worth noting: first stranger said something about me being pregnant today.  Sorta. Patient, guy in his 50s (I knew a guy would say something first, I don’t know if it’s because they’re gutsier or tackier than women, lol.)

He didn’t come right out and ask.  He was actually a nice guy. He said something like, “So, do you have any kids?”  Sometimes I just say, “not yet” …because in the earlier stages of pregnancy, I just didn’t need to tell every random person I just met.  But this time I said “One on the way, actually.”  To which he replied that he suspected, but he wanted to be sure and phrase his question carefully.  Ha.  Continue reading

Week 19(ish)

We were at Walgreens recently to buy a card to mail Pete’s folks their ultrasound picture.  While there, I thought it would be a good idea to get some dark chocolate peanut M&Ms.  It was a good idea.  Because I ate some, and I liked it.  I think Baby Girl liked it, too because she got a little sugar rush.  I know it’s bad, but it was so fun to feel her being active.

It doesn’t have to be M&Ms though.  One afternoon, I made a microwave pizza for lunch.  She went nuts!  She either reaalllly liked it or reaalllly didn’t (I prefer to think it’s the former).  But I loved feeling her dancing around in there.  I can’t wait till I’m feeling her more.  It seemed a little more frequent today, but it’s generally rather sporadic. Week 18ish / OB Appt / Ultrasound!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday (Tuesday), I had my ultrasound at 1:30, followed by a 2:00 Dr. appointment.  The ultrasound was pretty much the most fun thing EVER!  I had been kinda apprehensive about it.  Not so much because of the things I discussed in the last couple of posts, but because I had to drink 16 oz of water an hour prior to my appointment.  Without peeing.  See, I was really looking forward to the ultrasound.  And I wanted to be able to really focus on what was taking place and save it as a wonderful memory.  I feared I’d be so delirious needing to pee that I wouldn’t even be able to enjoy it.

So on Monday night, I decided to do a test run.  Continue reading

Update on Previous Post

So, if you were brave (or crazy) enough to read the TMI portion of my last post, I thought I’d post a quick update.  I could still be mistaken about all this movement business, but I think the little kiddo has been a lot more active tonight.  Like he or she is saying, “Relax, Mommy, I’m fine.  See?  I’m doing cartwheels!” =)

I’m still a little nervous about the ultrasound.  Because I’m still not totally sure about feeling the movement (I could probably be confident about it, but I’m always doubting myself).  Also because I don’t really know if I can drink 16 ounces of water an HOUR before my appointment and not have to pee to the point of being delirious. Continue reading
