I’ll start with the most fun update this week. Yesterday, Pete felt our little girl kick against his hand on my belly for the first time! I have felt her against my hand several times now, but we could never get the time/place right for Pete to feel her. But he finally did! The look on his face was so cute. =) Priceless. Then he kissed my tummy. It almost brought a tear to my eye. He already loves our little girl. ♥
I’m having so much fun feeling her. Yesterday, especially. She is getting more active! Or probably more accurately…she is getting bigger and stronger, so I am feeling her more and more. I’m feeling her all over my belly now, too. Before, she was almost always very low. Now she bebops around from left to right, up and down. So cool…. =)
Other things this week:
I am enjoying my maternity pants. After I wore my dress pants to work a couple of days, I was very sad that they must go in the laundry. At least it is a lot easier to wear my regular dress pants with a belly band than it is to wear my regular jeans. That just borders on impossible now. I really need to hem them…especially the dress pants…heels and I just do not get along. I think I can hem those myself with the iron-on tape stuff. But the jeans, I think I’m just going to suck it up and take them to be hemmed. If I do it with the tape, it’ll look weird because the stitching at the bottom will be all different. Or I could just continue being cheap and rolling them up. Loving the jeans in general though.
As much as I’m loving the maternity pants, I can’t say the same for tops yet. One day this week, a spot on my hand cracked and bled, and I didn’t notice it until I had a nice, prominent blood streak on my white sweater. And I still had a full afternoon of work to do. I didn’t think my patients would really appreciate the bloody look, and I had a few minutes, so I decided to buy something to change into. I didn’t want to buy a regular shirt that wouldn’t fit in a couple of weeks or so, so I figured I’d look for a maternity top, even if it wasn’t a perfect fit just yet. I ran to Old Navy to see what kind of tops I could find that would be relatively cheap, acceptable for work, and somewhat match the rest of my attire. I grabbed an XS in a grayish purple top…a flowy one. I usually like the fitted stuff more than the flowy stuff, but it was pretty cute, and the material was very soft and nice. And it was $10. I went to the bathroom to change, then came out to check myself in the mirror. As I suspected, I looked absolutely ridiculous. Some of my regular shirts are just starting to fit a little weird, but this…I looked like I was wearing a tent. The ladies at work thought it was cute, but I’m 100% it was not cute. =P I’m sure I’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear it later though.
New topic. Since we found out we’re having a girl, I started looking at bedding and stuff online. But other than that, I hadn’t really looked at girlie clothes and whatnot. Even though I work in a department store several days of the week. This last week, my mom came to visit me for lunch (fun, thanks mom!), and we went upstairs to look around. It was fun. =)
Baby girl also got her first present(s) this week! From “Aunt” Laura. =) She got some stuff in a grab bag from Precious Moments, and it is cute. I’m sure she’ll especially love the plush puppy. It is mommy’s favorite. =) Thanks Laura! I need to post pictures.
21 week cartoon baby. Approximately 7 inches long! Wow!
