36 Weeks + 4 days / OB Appointment / Lots of pics

Ohhh, there are lots of things to say because I procrastinated again.  So I’ll start with the doctor visit because it may be the most interesting.  My appointment was supposed to be yesterday, but things changed with The Great Blizzard of 2011.  That makes it sound way more dramatic than maybe it is, but the streets are still a mess.  Counting tomorrow, local schools are out four days this week (they only went Monday), and I don’t remember that ever happening.

So anyway, ice and sleet early Tuesday morning + 8-9 inches of snow on top of that = Dr. offices still closed on Wednesday.  Continue reading →

Oh my goodness, so many things….

I procrastinated.  Badly.  I kept putting off an update because I had so much to say…the task just seemed too daunting.  Turns out, by waiting, I don’t have any fewer things to write about.  I’ll try to hit the highlights.  Waiting too long to post, I also sort of forgot the smaller things I’d like to remember. =(  Oh well.  So here’s a summary of what’s been going on here.

Oh, I had a Dr appointment on Wednesday

That was 3 (almost 4!) days ago.  I’ve been too lazy to update.  It was a pretty quick one.  Went in, peed, went back out to wait.  Got called back, weighed.  Gained 19 lbs overall, 1 lb since my previous appointment 2 weeks ago.  Gail said, “Only one pound!  That includes the holidays and everything!”  Yeah?  I’m thinking, that’s okay, right?  God knows I ate plenty through the holidays and even when it’s not a holiday.  I had started wondering if I’m snacking too much.  Guess I’m still alright.  I just kind of shrugged.  They didn’t seem worried.  It was just the first time they really commented on it.  Continue reading →

Week 32

Not as much to say this time since I just updated yesterday.  If I were my mom, I’d only have 2 weeks left to go.  I hope Baby Girl gives me more time than that, though.  Even if SHE decides she’s ready, mommy is definitely going to need more time.  To-do list is overwhelming me.  SO OVERWHELMED.  Tomorrow needs to be a productive day.  (Which probably means I should go to bed since it’s about 1 am as I proofread this post.)

I had a funny/disturbing pregnancy dream again.  I think I’ve mentioned before, I’m feeling the baby move a lot, but it’s not those tiny little jabs anymore.  I can definitely feel that she’s bigger and she has a little less space to move around.  Continue reading →

Happy New Year! Happy Anniversary!

January 1, 2011.  We celebrate our 6th anniversary!  We actually spent our afternoon at a friend’s wedding.  It’s kind of cool that we’ll be sharing our anniversary.  I maintain that wearing a dress makes a pregnant chick look even bigger. =)  After the wedding, we crashed for a few at our hotel, then went out for an anniversary dinner date.  It was quite nice.  Strange to think that next time we want go on an anniversary date, we’ll need a babysitter! OB Appointment

Had a regular OB appointment on Wednesday.  Pretty run-of-the-mill stuff. I am happy to report that I was a little more “with it” this time compared to last time.  Not that that’s saying much.

First things first: peed in cup.  Sometimes I wonder if I’m going to be lectured because my pee is too yellow, like they’ll think I’m not getting enough water.  I think I’m doing pretty okay on that most days, but I often pee in the cup shortly after taking my prenatal vitamin, and that always throws off the color.

Anyway.  Had a bit of a wait again before getting called back.  Like 25-30 minutes.  Which I still feel isn’t all that bad for a Dr’s office at the end of the day.  Continue reading →

Weeks 29 & 30

Holy crap, I haven’t had a period in 214 days!

Holy crap, I’m 75% done being pregnant!

Last two weeks or so, my belly has been growing by. the. minute.  Little girl has to fatten up in there, so I’m just gonna keep on growin’. =)  So far, it’s mostly belly, so I guess I can’t complain. =)  I still kinda like it, actually.  It’s juuuust starting to get a little uncomfortable.  Only a little, and only sometimes.  I’m sure the discomfort will be a more prominent feature of this pregnancy in a few short weeks. Doula!

Folks, I have decided on a doula.  I am actually pretty excited about it!  A lot of people I’ve talked to have either never heard of a doula, or they don’t really know what a doula does.  It’s easier to just post a link rather than try to explain myself, so here: doulafoundation.org/faq.php – FAQs and some basic info.

First time I ever heard of a doula was when I was in college, and my Mary Kay Director often talked about her doula since she was pregnant at the time.  Continue reading →

OB Appointment – I have teh dumb.

And it’s contagious.

Today I had another OB appointment.  The first one since we started going every two weeks.  I had my glucose test, which I knew was coming.  On the way there, I asked Pete…wasn’t I told to to tell someone that I was going to be having it done and I would need the drink?  But who was I supposed to tell?  Neither of us really remembered, and I decided I was supposed to tell the nurse.

Ehhhh (imagine buzzer sound here), WRONG!  I was supposed to tell the receptionist so I could go ahead and get started on the drink and not have to be there as long.  Continue reading →
