I didn’t have a lot to say about entering my 14th week of pregnancy, so I decided to wait until after my Dr appointment (today) to post an update. First, the appointment. Went in and, as always, peed in a cup. Oh boy. Was called back shortly after. Nurse weighed me. I gained 4 lbs since the last appointment (3 lbs since the first; I somehow supposedly lost a pound between the first and second appointments). Doctor came in and had me lay down on the table. “Getting a little tummy on you,” she said. =) I guess that’s supposed to happen. Then she measured my uterus, during which she commented, “It’s growing!” Good thing! Then we heard the heartbeat.
Even though I figured everything was probably going fine, it was still a big sigh of relief to hear that wonderful sound again! It was much easier to find this time since the baby is bigger. She went to it right away. 153 bpm. We brought my old digital voice recorder in hopes to record the audio (had it for a few lectures in optometry school), but it was kind of last-minute, and sure enough…dead batteries. Boo! BUT! Pete used his cell phone, and it took a pretty decent recording given the circumstances. I posted it here so you can hear it too! ♥
[audio:http://babyg.brainstormwarning.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/babyheartbeat-08.31.102.mp3|titles=babyheartbeat-08.31.10]That was about it. I asked the doctor about getting my flu shot (didn’t know if I would get it there or elsewhere), and I can get it there as soon as they have them. They order preservative-free ones for the OB patients. Never thought of that!
Next appointment: September 28th. ULTRASOUND!!! @1:30. Regular appointment with the Dr @2:00.
Random stuff:
I mentioned some time back that I should take a picture of my odd innie-outie combo belly button. Never did, and it’s probably too late now. I’m sure it’ll change much more later on…I’m sure it’ll pop. But right now, with a slightly bigger tummy, the innie part just looks more innie. More…cavernous. *lol*
I also mentioned a while ago that I’ve been dreaming more. Even before pregnancy, IF I remembered my dream (it was rare that I would), it was generally really, really weird. I’m not remembering dreams as much now as I was early in my pregnancy, but I still definitely remember them more, and they are still every bit as odd.
One I shared on facebook almost two weeks ago, but I don’t think I ever put it here. One evening, I could NOT resist a nap, and I ended up sleeping maybe an hour and a half. I dreamed a lady came in for an eye exam and wanted me to measure her for a new wig while I was at it. Because when she was in San Francisco, they measured her for the wig at the nail salon, but she wasn’t too happy with the results. So random.
More recent example of an odd dream comes from a couple of nights ago. I dreamed Pete and I were moving (I think), but I was already pregnant. My family was helping us, so it was Mom driving with Pete, me, and my brother, Scott, as passengers. As we arrived at the parking lot wherever we were going, we saw that it was mostly empty, but Pete’s mom (I think?) was there meeting us. But one other person just happened to be standing there. From the van, I ask Pete and Scott, “Is that Leonard Nimoy?” What. The. Heck??? How did Leonard Nimoy make it into my dreams? (I think it had something to do with seeing a Spock Teefury T-shirt right before bed. Seriously? Spock as Princess Leia??? CREEPY!) But I digress. He made some funny comment about how Pete and I must be close in age but we don’t look it. I noticed that he was quite short. Seriously, like four feet tall. I’m pretty sure he’s only four feet tall in my dreams. Anyway, I thought this was quite the photo op, so I tried to take a picture of Pete and Scott with little Leonard Nimoy. I had a hard time getting the picture, and more and more people started showing up, making it more difficult. Out of nowhere, Pete and Scott were each wearing a different brightly-colored sport coat, no doubt for the photo, but I still couldn’t frame the shot right with all the people in the way. Then I woke up.
Interpret THAT!
Does anyone have any experience with any of the “pregnancy pillows?” I’m having a hard time training myself to sleep on my side, and it sometimes results in neck pain. =(
Cartoon baby time!

Pregnency pillow is AMAZING!!! I had a different one for each kid and loved them both. A lot of my friends like the curved one better yet.
