15 Weeks

Today, like every new week, feels like another new victory.  Things are finally getting easier too, I think.  For the most part, I have been sleeping better (last night being an exception), and I think maybe the headaches are getting less frequent and less difficult to get rid of.  So that’s happy news too.  I was feeling a bit disappointed this week because I hadn’t really noticed any tummy changes in a while (realistically, I know–from experience–that this can go in spurts).  But then a coworker commented on a little belly, so I felt better about it. 🙂

Some physical changes I did notice this week:  1) Nosebleeds.  I had them with S, too.  (Gross warning, not womanly gross, just generally gross.)  So far it’s only really bad when I blow my nose because I feel boogery.  And then it’s either bloody boogers or just congealed blood, and then stream of blood begins.  It’s pretty annoying, but usually it stops quickly.  The fear has been renewed though of being with a patient and thinking my nose is just about to run, when in actuality I’m having a nose bleed.  It sounds so embarrassing. I hope it never happens.  2) Earlier in this pregnancy, my left boob was getting fuller and heavier, while the right one hardly changed at all.  Which, you know, kind of takes a little bit of the fun out of it, but whatever.  It was more amusing than anything else.  ANYWAY, I am happy to report that the right one has caught up.  It’s now more comfortable to wear my “pregnant bras.”  3) In spite of having only a little belly, my belly button I swear is already halfway inverted.  It just really really likes to pop.  That turkey timer will probably be out in just a few weeks.

Today, the twin mattress and box springs I ordered arrived, so it’s S’s first night in her big girl bed.  She was mostly excited and very thankful.  I think she’ll be happier when the pretty stuff arrives, like the comforter.  Right now she’s just functional. 🙂  But this was the first step in getting some of the stuff that’s been in her room out before it goes in the new baby room (which is far from ready to accommodate nursery furniture right now).  I wanted it to be old stuff and in neutral territory for a while so it’s not like we just take away her stuff when the baby comes.  She did say something before the new things arrived about how we can still keep her old bed in case she changes her mind…haha uh oh.  But I think it’ll be okay. 🙂

Other than that, I’ve taken this week off of work to HOPEFULLY accomplish a lot in my wreck of a house.  We’re not even close to having a space for a new baby right now.  I don’t even want to be in my house myself.  So aiming to make a lot of progress.  Seems like I can never accomplish as much as I hope going in, but hopefully I can at least make enough headway that I’m encouraged to keep going.  Especially now that I’m starting to get my energy back.

Things I’m looking forward to: 16 week OB appointment a week from tomorrow.  It’d normally be on Monday, but that’s Memorial Day, so it’s Tuesday instead.  At that appointment, I think we’re supposed to schedule the morphology scan where we’ll find out the sex of the baby.  I can hardly wait.  On that topic, Pete’s best friend and his wife (who have a son 2 months to the day younger than S and, if I remember right, are expecting about 2.5 weeks before us) found out this past week they are having another boy.  S predicted quite early on that their son was going to have a baby brother, and she was going to have a baby sister.  We shall see how her crystal ball is working and if she goes two for two. 😉

Other than that, I’m anxious to feel movement.  It’s a little early still, but I feel like finally it should be soon-ish.  I first felt S at 17 weeks + 2 days.  It took another couple of days to be really sure that was, in fact, what I was feeling.  They say you feel it earlier with subsequent pregnancies, so I’m hoping!  But 17 weeks is early-ish anyway.

Okay, so new fruit week – baby is approximately the size of an orange, according to my very scientific ticker.

Cartoon baby (holy smokes, 4 inches long!?):
