HOLY CRAP, I’M CONSIDERED FULL TERM THIS WEEK!
I haven’t had a period in 256 days. This kid is going to be here pretty soon!!
Things that have happened since the last time I updated:
On Friday, I bought a couple of nursing bras. Just some really soft and stretchy ones just because I’ll need SOMETHING to get started. I’m definitely going to need more than two, probably right off the bat even, but 1) I bought them on a buy one get one 50% off sale, so it would be silly to buy three (and I don’t want four), and 2) I’m sort of hoping that I can get by on two until the milk comes in enough that I can find a bra with a little more shape that will still fit. But I’ll probably go crazy with only two bras that I have to wash all the time, so we’ll see how it goes. I hear Target has a decent selection? Can anyone vouch for that? I can’t spend much. I was actually AT Target today (see below), but I wasn’t thinking about it. =(
Yesterday, (warning: this is a TMI paragraph) I thought I lost the last of my mucus plug. Whoaaaa. =) I wasn’t really sure about that, though. I found it in the toilet at work. 😐 Gross, but I wish I’d lost it in my underwear so I could examine it better. It didn’t look anything at all like I thought it would. Everyone describes it like reaalllly thick snot with maybe some blood in it. This…didn’t quite look like that. I wasn’t ABOUT to reach into the toilet of a department store, so I wadded up a piece of toilet paper and used that to kind of swirl it around to see if it looked “snotty.” It didn’t really…not to me, anyway. Describing it in detail might go beyond what even I’m willing to divulge. Even here in this blog, where I tell ALL. But anyway, I wasn’t really worried, but I was a little confused.
I was telling Pete about it (well, that and that I was still spotting a little since my cervical exam on Thursday), and he wanted me to call the doctor. Since yesterday was Saturday, and I didn’t really think this constituted an emergency, I tried to decline. Pete wasn’t too thrilled about that, so he suggested I call the doula, and I agreed. I told her I was still spotting some (I expected some, but didn’t think it would be that much, and not more than 48 hours later), but she said it was fine as long as it was old (brown) blood and not red. I also asked about the thing I found in the toilet. We thought it was probably mucus plug-related (?), but she said she was at some event where there were some labor and delivery people, so she said she could ask one of them. I probably misunderstood because next thing I knew, someone else is on the phone. Turns out it was the L&D nurse that taught our childbirth class. She didn’t sound too worried either, just said if there’s any RED blood or evidence my water had broken, then I should go in. She also said I probably already lost most of my mucus plug without even realizing it since I was already dilated to a 2 (I had forgotten about that). So anyway, still sort of a mystery, but not really a concern. I can ask about it at my next OB appointment on Tuesday.
Also had a few more Braxton-Hicks yesterday. Not really painful, but attention-getting ones. They were more on my left side than the right. The ones on my right side aren’t even really “attention-getting.” It just feels like my uterus is balling up, then it relaxes.
Todayyyy, we skipped church because I didn’t want to get out on the road if we didn’t have to. We watched it online. Well, Pete did a much better job of watching it online while I tried to listen while having one of those I’m-9-months-pregnant-and-irrational moments. One of my goals for the day was to finish up some laundry so I could finish packing our bags for the hospital. Problem–when I went to wash the aforementioned nursing bras, I discovered that the little security tags were left on. Under any other circumstances, I’d be maybe mildly annoyed, but people make mistakes, I didn’t see them either when I took them out to show my mom…I could just have them off when I go to work on Tuesday. But no. Today? RRAAAAAAAAGGGEEEEEEE! We have to go back to Penneys right now. RIGHTNOW! No, Pete. I can’t wait 30 minutes til church is over to get dressed and ready. No, I can’t just pack everything else and take care of the bras later. I need all of it! Today! Now!
So by the time church is over, I’m ready to go. I put some chicken in the slow cooker and programmed a different load of laundry to start while we’re gone. Off we go to Penneys to get those bloody tags removed. I think our road is the only one in the entire neighborhood that was NOT plowed, but I was pleasantly surprised by how clear the rest of the roads were. Wet, so it’s going to be awful when it re-freezes, but I digress. Ran in, got the tags off, ran out. Then, to make the trip a little more worth our while, we went to Target so we could get a baby memory book and some granola bars we can’t find anywhere else. I really wanted a memory book to take to the hospital so we could get our baby girl’s hand and foot prints in it. Overall, though, it’s pretty hokey. Hokey, but it’ll do the trick. I’d been looking at one on Amazon, but it won’t even ship until Feb 14, and I was a little nervous about waiting that long. It’s probably hokey too, and it was definitely more expensive. So I’m fine with what I got.
Side note: it is now 9:12, and our bags still aren’t packed. But the bras ARE washed.
Tomorrow. HOPEFULLY the baby dresser will FINALLY be delivered. It was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. They tried on Tuesday, but weather interfered. Wednesday, they didn’t even try. Then they tried again Thursday and Friday, but still never made it. Plleeeaaaaassseeee, dresser! Make it here tomorrow! And in one piece. Some of the Amazon reviews said something about broken pieces, so hopefully being on the UPS truck for delivery four times won’t hurt our chances too much. I just want to wash baby girl’s clothes so I can put them away! They’ve also made a couple of attempts to deliver a lamp and a few other room coordinates, so hopefully those will get here tomorrow, too.
Tomorrow night is our last meeting with the doula, too.
Then Tuesday is the next OB appointment. I’ll update again then.
