I just updated yesterday, but I had another OB appointment today. A quick and easy one, as expected. Went in, peed in the cup, waited to get called back. I actually waited 15 minutes or so to go back for this appointment, but I’m not complaining. It’s the latest I’ve ever been called back. And it is a doctor’s office. An OB office at that.

First, as usual, Gail weighed me. I’ve gained about 10 lbs so far, and I officially weigh more than I have ever weighed before. =) Then she took my blood pressure, asked a few questions (no, no bleeding; yes, I’m feeling movement), and told me the doctor would be in shortly. What came next was kind of funny.

The phlebotomist came just a minute or two later, saying it was time to draw blood. I said something like “Oh, that’s a surprise! Haha!” I mean, I’m not squeamish about these things, but it’s not like my favorite thing, and usually they’re good about telling me what will be taking place. She walks beside me and asks me my name and date of birth, so I tell her. She pauses. I glance down, not trying to be nosy, but I can see the sticker for the person whose blood she’s supposed to be taking. I don’t remember anything about the name other than the fact that it was not mine. Heh. I say my name again. Oops, wrong room, I guess. I don’t remember her saying much in response. But she left. She left without any of my blood. Glad that they confirm these things before they go poking unsuspecting people with needles!

Finally, the doctor came in. She measured my uterus. 22½ cm. Which I guess is pretty much spot on for ~22 weeks pregnant. Right on! Next, we heard the heartbeat. Actually, we could hear her squirming around in there a little before really honing in on the heartbeat. But the heartbeat was so much louder and more powerful than any of the other visits! So cool. She’s getting so much bigger!

Before leaving, I got some stuff lined out with my insurance (hopefully). I could write a long, boring post just about that headache. But I won’t, at least not now.

Next appointment: Tuesday, November 23 @ 2:15 pm (week of Thanksgiving).

After the appointment, we ran into a Walgreen’s so Pete could get his flu shot. Since I got pregnant, I have become quite the public health ambassador for my family, so I’m urging everyone (who will spend considerable amounts of time with this kid…or would be very sad to be sick when the kid is born) to get their flu shot. He was very much not looking forward to it, but since we actually had it on our minds at a time he could do something about it, we went. Of course it was easier than anticipated. =) Then we went on a dinner date, woot!

Random: I think baby girl (and therefore, momma here) is about to go on another growth spurt. I’m getting that crampy feeling again. When I was first pregnant, I was having mild cramps which felt a little like menstrual cramps (though not as bad), and that was my uterus growing. It went away, but it came back a few weeks ago and lasted only a few days. After that, I was informed that I had “popped.” =) So I’m wondering if I’m about to “pop” some more….
